Sit-Up Forms and Rules

Basics and the General Form

  • Lie flat on your back. Your knees should bent, around a 45-degree angle.
  • Stabilize your feet. Tuck your feet under a support object, such as hand-weights, under a couch or bed, etc. This is to avoid the legs and feet from wailing around and to provide support.
  • Position your hands and arms. Many people have different methods on placement, as the more popular options, include crossing arms across the chest, fingers behind the ears, fingers pointed at the head, etc. as these are all proper placements.
  • Please do not utilize your arms to life yourself up, as a guide, or as an assistance. This is a core body exercise, so the arms should be doing the least amount of movement and usage and should be "locked in position".
  • Lift the body towards the knees. Use all core muscles around the hip and trunk to pull the body upwards. The glutes (buttocks) should remain in contact with the floor throughout the entire movement.
  • Meet the body at the knees. The body should be close to upright (at a 90 degree angle) or your elbows should touch the knees.
  • Go back all the way to the floor. The next rep starts as the back touches the floor.
  • For the best accuracy with the AI Guru, end your very last rep on the floor before ending the video.

Rules and Guidelines

  • A full sit-up on Cadoo is defined as the body lying on the ground with the back flat and the body coming up to a full 90 degree sitting position, reaching the knees and coming all the way back down.
  • Cradling the body or performing crunches will result in a modified rep count.
  • Ground your feet at all times, commonly with the bottom of a sofa.
  • Kicking yourself up, inverted reps (kicking legs in the air), body is more than 30% away from the knees, or if the body does not hit the ground when coming down, will incur a modified rep count.
